iCloud Drive Sync Issue

Hi all, I have issues with syncing my iCloud drive folders but only from my iPhone. I have this weird symbol in the Files app but have no idea what the issue is. I tried restarting but didn’t solve the issue. Thanks for your help.

If the iCloud icon is showing an exclamation mark, it typically indicates a connection or storage issue.

eeeee. in my experience - and it is quite extensive with this symbol lol - neither of these seem to have much truth.

||I really wish these big ole proprietary companies would just not include indicators like this if they're not going to document them publicly. lol. I guess that's not helpful but.||

looking back, I would suggest that it is more complex indexing tasks that cause this. (as distinct from simply having large files to move.)

for instance, on my M1 iPad Pro yesterday, I created a directory and unzipped 60,000 text files in it all at once (I was very curious about this Biblical Study pre-made Obsidian vault I discovered that stores every verse in individual text files lol) that symbol appeared almost immediately.

(I'm going to assume the actual warning regards the certainty of the availability of some files.)

I would actually disagree specifically with rebooting immediately as a resolution. I came from windows, so I not only understand why it should be a viable solution... I could cite multiple experiences with macs, specifically, where my reboots have made syncing issues noticeably worse. I don't remember the technical explanation - and I still reboot way too much lol - but I would suggest the best course of action is to set your device on a charger, where it's got a healthy WiFi connection and leave it to ... literally "figure it out" on its own.

it's not an emergency or anything - you can absolutely just continue doing something else - but iCloud Drive (bird, the little \(%\)) seems to hesitate to prioritize resources for indexing or whatever until the ||(various unnecessary voodoo systems of assumption)||1 come to the conclusion that the device has been left to an idle, powered on, and WiFi- connected state.

macOS is just Linux you have to persuade
