Believe it or not, installing audio files as ringtones on even your brand new iPhone - a device which can download whole websites in seconds using a full Linux shell, for instance - still involves GarageBand for iOS, as it always has. In terms of total steps to complete, the process is actually ridiculously simple, but said involvement - and the shear oddness of the whole thing - make it less than straightforward.
