Here’s how to buy Things for each of your devices.
Things is sold separately as a one-time purchase for Mac, iPad, and iPhone. The Watch app is included when you purchase the iPhone app.
Here’s how to buy the app for each device:
Mac
iPad
iPhone
Watch
You can buy Things for your Mac in the Mac App Store. It’s a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
If you use more than one Mac, you can install Things on each of them. Your family members can also install Things via Apple’s Family Sharing.
If I want to buy all the apps, can I bundle them?
Due to the way the App Store works, there’s no way to bundle Mac, iPad & iPhone apps together into a single purchase. See Apple’s explanation here. Furthermore, we don’t have a universal iOS app because we want to keep the iPhone price as low as possible for people who don’t own an iPad.
Why is the iPad app more expensive than the iPhone app?
The development cost for our iOS version is split between our iPhone and iPad apps. A majority of the code is shared between the apps, but the iPad requires extra work and has more features than the iPhone app. Further to that, fewer people buy the iPad app, so the price is higher to subsidize the costs of development.
I bought Things 2. Is there a discount for Things 3?
Due to the way the App Store works, there’s no way to offer discounts to existing users – it only allows us to lower the price for everyone. For that reason, we discounted Things 3 for two weeks each during the initial release in 2017 and then again in late 2019, to help our remaining Things 2 users upgrade at a lower cost. Both times, we reached out via in-app notifications and emails to make existing customers aware of the discount. If you missed those events, there’s no way for us to offer you a personal discount due to App Store limitations. However, if you bought Things 2 on or after March 1, 2017, you’re eligible for a free upgrade: contact us for your free copy. You will have to provide the invoice Apple emailed to you when you purchased Things. If you bought Things 2 earlier than March 1, 2017, please buy Things 3 as a new app by following the links above.
If you’re looking to migrate your to-dos from Things 2 to Things 3, please follow the steps on this page.
Education or Business discounts
Apple’s App Store doesn’t allow us to offer discounts, but if you need to distribute multiple copies of Things to a group, we’ve made it available through Apple School Manager and Apple Business Manager.
Things Cloud is free
Things Cloud is a free service we provide for all of our customers. It keeps your to-dos synced across all of your devices running Things.
Can I access my to-dos on another platform?
Things is available for Mac, iPad, iPhone, and Apple Watch. We don’t make Things for Android, Windows, the web, or any other platforms.
