[theory] of a girl asleep in a hole the forest left

there were puffed up flowers and bees and webs spun out of sugarspit

all that gushed up storm, its rainy innards, departed too

in its absence, a hole where a single body fit / the body that filled it

was cycling through the third stage of dreaming in which night fell

over the vast part of her mind where another forest lived

its flowers dead, and unhoneyed, the bees gave no more sugar to spiders

instead the webs were knotted with a god’s cruel design

bidding no one leave, the dream shuttering itself and the girl

in her sleep could not wake and therefore had no testimony to give
