Guidelines
— how to submit
Please read these guidelines carefully before submitting.
wildness accepts submissions of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction and considers work in most styles, forms, or genres. (We recommend reading our previous issues to see what we’re looking for.)
We currently read submissions on a rolling basis. All work submitted will be considered for the next open issue.
- For poetry, please send no more than 5 poems; with fiction and non-fiction, please limit the submission to 1,000 words.
- Please only submit previously unpublished work.
- Though simultaneous submissions are okay, please mention it in your email. (Also, should your work be accepted elsewhere, please do let us know.)
- All submissions should include a third-person bio and a short cover note in the body of the email.
- The work should be attached in a single .docx or PDF file—please do not submit using OneDrive or Google Docs.
- We aim to reply within a month of receipt. Please do query us if it’s been longer than this.
Though, as the creator of the work, you retain copyright upon publication, you agree to grant wildness first serial/electronic rights (as well as electronic archival rights in perpetuity). You also agree that if the work is published subsequently (online or in print), wildness will be credited.
Unfortunately, at this time—though we are always looking for ways to do so—we cannot offer payment to contributors. However, we nominate for most major prizes (Pushcart, Best of the Net, Best American, etc.) and continue to promote contributors after publication.
