When traveling East ⇨ West (unlike this track log,) the Break Time and immediately neighboring Leatherwood General Store still mark the beginning of a slightly safer stretch in which to move briskly. This short stretch is what I personally think of as the quintessential Route K, and it remains almost exciting, despite coming down hard recently with the Roundabout Disease.
