110 years ago, today, an otherwise extremely levelheaded, well-seasoned motherfucker decided to go litty af (boilers) just for the hype and ended up completely wrecking the largest manmade object on earth on its first fucking drive.

I was gonna note the parallels between then and now but instead I just wanna wish you Happy Titanic Day.

I hope you can still enjoy my sequel. honestly, I think I somehow ended up with a more historically accurate result than James Cameroon’s. https://youtu.be/4uOcE_IIi30

the parallels to now (as in, today) are Dumb Disturbing. same exploitive directions. the top dozen or so richest earth people still get to be deranged as hell and worshipped for their least reasonable ideas.

by the year the Titanic sank, electric motorcars had been around in the US for nearly 15 years, and we’d already figured out that battery technology only made sense in urban commercial/municipal applications.

I don’t know anything about business, but I overheard a presenter I trust remark that the Musker company is worth more than the next six most valuable American auto companies, combined, and I am deeply disturbed.

both of the dictionary definitions of “disruption” I just looked up begin with the word “disturbance” building heavy, overpriced, wasteful products in a tent with intentional disregard for good practices isn’t edgy. it’s just dumb.
