‘Barnlights’
— Reneé Bibby
I am so happy to wrap up November with Amanda’s Crum’s ‘Barnlights.’ Like fall easing into winter, it evokes the velvety shifting of time: day shifting into evening, night creatures emerging, and wild days of adventure easing into the restfulness of home. We’re like the pack of children in Crum’s poem, the sparkling lights of upcoming holidays coaxing us back to childhood homes. We feel “thirst and hiraeth;” an ache to reconnect with a place and time when we could trust the barnlights as beacons of satiety and safety and love.
As we head into December, may your days be as lovely as Crum’s poem. Full of adventures and friends, nature and beautiful twilights, and home.
