transtrender

in a former editing life, i had the pleasure of publishing manuel arturo abreu & their latest collection transtrender is a straight up triumph. i think of frequencies. there is a vibration more dense yet placid that abreu’s work exists on. this collection undoes data from it’s own limiting codes of understanding. re-placing meaning around the mundane or forlorn or disheartening. the visual entries, of the poets own form, assert the body never hidden in the work. a movement through verse to prose to seemingly indecipherable urgencies. there is almost an absence of question in the text, abreu’s matter-of-fact-here-is-now tone permeating relies on your full devotion to the information transmitted. the political importance of this text is not lost on anyone worth having an opinion & the beauty of the work is singular in its need.
